It’s a data scientist’s fancy way of explaining how to standardize or convert data (usually text) into a number and formula for the purposes creating AI. For example, in self driving ai, a camera may take the outline in shape of an object on the horizon. Turns it into an item in vector space that describes that outline and then compares that. to various other objects trying to figure out which one it’s the closest to.
